April Ross

April Ross was one of the few female beach volleyball athletes who earned medals in several Olympics. Alix-Klineman will compete with April Ross in Tokyo in order to claim her third gold medal in the next few days. Ross's dream is to earn her first Olympic gold medal. The next time she has the chance at age 39. However, she's convinced that top prizes are in reach. Ross was reported by NBC Boston as saying that If you put in your best, even if you play well we will get the gold. Additionally, I'm going be relying on a little bit of luck. Ross was born the 22nd, 1982 at Costa Mesa California. She lived there together with her parents. She was able to participate in a myriad of activities at Newport Harbor High School. When she was a student in the prep school she was a participant in basketball, indoor volleyball and track. She was clearly the best at the sport of indoor volleyball. When she played in her college volleyball season, according to her college profile, she played as an outside-hitter, middle blocker and setter. Gatorade Circle of Champions named her the national Player of 1999. In addition, she was awarded the 2000 Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. Ross and Klineman began their relationship in 2017 however, Ross was a beach scene star for years before. She has been able to win multiple events, and one was won by an iconic volleyball player. From 2007 to 2013, she was partnered with Jennifer Kessy, who is currently her coach. Ross, Kessy's fellow teammate who took home the title of world champion alongside Kessy in 2009, also was a major force on international stage. The duo eventually captured an Olympic silver medal during the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Misty Maytreanor's legendary team along with Kerri Jennings took home the gold. It was fate that had them. Ross became Walsh Jennings' new partner when May-Treanor retired. They took home the bronze medal in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics 2016. Ross was a player for the Trojans of USC in her college after graduating from in high school. This was an impressive run for Ross at the school. As a freshmen in 2000, her play earned her the Pac-10 and NCAA Freshman-of-the-Year honors. Additionally, she was an integral player in helping the Trojans reach it to the Final Four. The second season of her career she was devastated by a personal loss, yet managed to earn the honor of being named an All-American. The two years following her, she took the Trojans up to the summit and took home consecutive national championships. The individual accomplishments of her have established her status as a legend in volleyball. She won the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the nation's best female collegiate player. Ross had been an international studies major at USC. Unfortunately Ross mother Margie never got to see Ross's daughter reach the highest levels of beach volleyball stardom. Ross's mother passed away from breast cancer while she was a sophomore in USC. However, she continues to remember her deceased parent close and dear. Margie has always been a source of inspiration for her on and off the beach.
